What Causes High BP And Tight Sensation In The Muscles?

I have recently been put on Lopitor for having suffered a light stroke. I am on 3 bp medications plus Atorvastatin (40) mg. Recently I have noticed that my muscles have been very tense, and I am unable to get my blood pressure down. I had been having bp ranging from122/79 down to 118/85. I am now back up to the 155/94 133/86. I am concerned that this may be because of the high dosage of Lipitor and my being able to relax my muscles. Is there anything I can do to verify this? I left a message4 with the Dr office early this morning, but they have not returned my phone call. HELP

Hi and Welcome to Ask A Doctor service. I have read your question and here is my advice
We understand your concern.Infact the blood pressure you reported here is not too high. You can just observe more readings if it was persitent lymph high then probably we need too increase the dose or drug but it seems that's it isn't that high to worry about urgently .Less then 140 is mostly fine.Atorvastain probably has nothing to do with that

Regarding your muscle problem, yes ine common side effect of atorvastain is muscle Inflamation. we chek the mucle enzyme called CPK to see for any muscle damage caused by statin. So chek your CPK level if raised we may need to stop, reduce or change the drug.
