Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 47 years old and been on the depo provera injection for just over 20 years. In the last 6 months I have started having my blood pressure checked and it is averaging on 165 over 115 every time. Could this be as a result of being 47 and on the injection for so many years or is there possible something more serious.
It has its own side effects including water retention. This will affect blood pressure. At your age (47 years old), age is a factor contributing to high blood pressure (bp). If you are at risk, this hormone can cause high bp.
Discuss with your doctor and run cardiac check up to rule out cardiac issues.
All the best.
