Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi, i was informed i have a high erythrocycte sedimentation rate. should i be worried ? I have a history of severe lower back problem and nerve problem. i am currently on painkiller tramadol. is it because of my medical issue that cause high erythrocycte sedimentation rate?
Hi I can understand your concern regarding the high ESR. ESR is not a diagnostic test. However it is elevated in certain chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis, colitis, tuberculosis, etc. It is reflected to the disease activity. Tramadol is an opioid drug used to treat moderate to severe pain does not increase the ESR level as such. You are advised to consult a rheumatologist for proper evaluation and you may need some other medications to relieve the symptoms of severe joint pain and nerve problem. Best regards.
