Hi,
I am sorry to hear that.
If I were your treating Doctor for this case of high RBC count, I would come up with three possibilities, these include:
Polycythemia vera: This is due to the excess proliferation of blood cells from your
bone marrow. Patients complain of pain, rashes, and itchiness on their hands and foot.
I would recommend
1. monitoring cell count regularly
2.JAK2
mutation (This gene mutation is a common cause of polycythemia)
3. check serum ferritin and
4. renal function tests (dead cells cause slight damage to
kidney)
5. liver function tests (excess cells die in liver and cause liver enlargement)
Phlebotomy on a regular basis. Excess RBC would clot in blood vessels and may cause transient vision disturbances, pain, rashes in hands and legs.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
