What Causes High Blood Pressure After Taking Glumetza?
I have been taking glumetza once daily and metformin 500 mg once daily. Just have been switched to the glumetza and I found after 3 days I had elevated blood pressure. Just had by pass surgery 7 weeks ago. My pressure all along a 6 week period was around 118/ 70. I started taking the Glumetza with the metformin and pressure went up to 159/97. Just cut back to 500mg metformin 3 times daily and with my other meds all goes back to normal readings on my pressure. How can that be if Glumetza is metformin?
The Glumetza containing Metformin is usually not related to development of hypertension. However, individual case difference can not be denied on medical grounds and once the medicine has stopped, active and vigilant BP follow up is best recommended for further conclusions and guidelines.
