What Causes High Blood Pressure Along With Disorientation And Slurred Speech?

Husband woke up confused and slurry speech. He has been dealing with high blood pressure and also saw dr yesterday and also has sinus infection and bronchitis which he is now on medication for. Had him take one regular aspirin. Checked his blood pressure and it was high. 197/84. No facial, hand arm, leg weakness. Slight unsteady with walking. Good strength in both hands and arms. Also he was switched to a different B/P med so didn t take it yesterday but had him take that now. Good understanding of conversation. Do we need to go to the ER?

High blood pressure with confusion, slurry speech and unsteadiness need prompt medical care. High blood pressure needs to be lowered with medication.

Other symptoms of slurring speech, confusion and unsteadiness could be due to stroke, however, it can only be confirmed by relevant investigations. Management will depend on the cause of symptoms.
