What Causes High Blood Pressure Along With Migraine Headache?

Good evening. Been experiencing high blood pressure for the last two days with migraines. Currently at 183 over 95......but have been up as high as 200 over 100.Currently taking Metoprolol and Amlodipine. Would like know if there s something else I can do to try and get my numbers down. Thank you.....Bob Irish

Hi,

First of all,the medical treatment is not effective, unless you decrease salt intake. Second, you should do some investigations such as: An ECG, an ECHO on your heart and lipid profile, because obesity and atherosclerosis can make hypertension resist the drugs. Second, you should decrease fat intake and eat healthy food. Finally, the use of Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin with Metoprolol can attenuate the anti-hypertensive effect of Metoprolol, so you can ask your doctor to change Metoprolol if you take Aspirin or other pain killer.
