My brother in law had a stroke three weeks ago. He has a history of high blood pressure. He seems to be recovering nicely and it doesn t look like he will have lasting effects however, his blood pressure is still too high though he is on meds to reduce it. He underwent a heart exam shortly after his stroke and it was discovered he has a-fib. Doctors are not sure what exactly caused his stroke. Question: He would like to meet with a heart doctor but isn t sure if there is a specific kind of cardiac specialist best suited to address his dilemmas. Suggestion??
HTN is a chronic disease and he need to be on medication regularly. If his blood pressure not good control, He has to follow up with his home doctor to make sure his blood pressure is good control. High blood pressure complication are: Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, Heart failure, chronic kidney injury, ischemic heart disease, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke.
Stroke can be from his heart problem like heart valve disease, or coronary artery disease. He should meet with cardiologist to make sure what is your real heart problem and receive the right medicine for his problem to prevention his future stroke.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
