What Causes High Blood Pressure While On Polyethylene Glycol?
I am taking two doses of polyethylene glycol daily as prescribed by G.I. physician. I have chronic Bowel obstruction due to adhesions from surgery. Now I have high blood pressure which is a new symptom for me. GP prescribed diltiazem for three weeks ago . Dosage of diltiazem has been increased to 240 mg . Yesterday I was taken off BP medication because. I had bad stomach cramps ...almost as bad as from bowel obstruction. Is the polyetheline glycol causing the high blood pressure ? Is the Cartia ( diltiazem ) casing the stomach cramps ?
Usually it won't cause high blood pressure , it may decreased swim electrolytes may be chance's of to decreased blood pressure. If you're allergic to it or kidney disease it may aggravate the problem. Yes in few patients may develop stomach cramps with diltiazem so if you're allergic to it you can use alternate medication for stomach cramps. Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
