Blood pressure varies from age to age. However, if you are anywhere between 15- 55 years of age, you may well be assured that youe blood pressure is normal. Out of the 5 times you checked, your BP was normal 4 times. For diagnosing someone as hypertensive, multiple readings on different days and under different situations are tested. Also, electronic machines are not always reliable.
However, if you do get very high readings on 2-3 occasions and also get symptoms like headache, blurring of vision and vomiting, do consult your doctor. There are 2 types of hypertension - one without any apparent cause and one with a causative factor like kidney disease or pheochromocytoma. The ones with a causative factor can be fairly treated whereas the former can only be controlled. If this occurs, kindly see your physician.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
