What Causes High Blood Sugar Levels After Taking Diamicron?
JiI am talking insulin for past 2 years alongwith Glycomet 1 GM and my sugar level was fairly good with 7.8 hbc1. Now doctor has advised diamicron xr 60 as I was getting swelling in my foot.I took diamicron 3 dosses but my Sugar level fasting shooted up.As I am traveling I switched over to Glycomet.Kindly advise
Hi i do care for your concern. The drugs that you are taking is absolutely fine for diabetes of that HBa1c level that you mentioned. You have not mentioned your age, other co morbid condition, and the reason for changing the drug to other class. Diamicron will stimulate pancreas to secrete insulin, In your case the dosage may not be adequate or beta cells may be less. It is fair to switch to glycomet for time being, and consult your physician to evaluate for the same. Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask. Thank you.
