What Causes High Blood Sugar?

My physician has ran many test trying to explain why my sugars will not go below 200. My liver, etc is fine. She did not detect any infections. She increase my once a day metformin(was winging me to get off for my sugars was normal until the third week in October) to 2000mg a day and two glipizide 10mg. I can not work out for my blood sugars will skyrocket from 280 or in the 200 s to 400 s. I haven t worked out in three weeks. I am always tired. I feel old! I was diagnoised with diabetes type 2 last summer when I was told that an infection attacked my pancreas. I have hypothyroid. I am 5 10, reduced my weight from 223 to 176. I have been dropping weight the last month without trying. I realize that I have not gottent my teeth clean. Do you think that an infection in my mouth or cavity cause my blood sugars to go up?

Welcome to health care magic. Let me address your queries one by one. To the point, feeling tired n odd feeling can be a symptom of high sugars. Secondly, better sugar control equally depends on dietary modifications like eating small amount of low carbohydrate meals more frequently in a day, regular brisk walk n graduated exercises, etc. So, only drug modifications as you described may not be sufficient and you have to give some dedicated efforts from your side. Your third question about infection will be answered i a big YES...as any kind of infection can rise blood sugars and spoil your whole efforts of diabetic control.
I hope i have answered your queries and would like to clarify further if you wish to.
Wish you a good nand healthy life ahead.
