My mother in law recently had a situation in which she felt an elephant was siting on her chest- she also has high blood pressure with a rapid heart beat. I was wondering what is the the most likely cause of those symptoms? She did go to the hospital and they did one EKG and her heart was normal at the time...a second one was not done.
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion she is having musculoskeletal pain mostly, due to fall. But since she is having high blood pressure with rapid heart rate, I advice to get done ECG and 2D Echo both to rule out cardiac damage. If bothare fine then no need to worry much for cardiac pain. It will mostly due to muscular cause only. Try to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief. 1. Avoid heavy weight lifting and strenuous exercise. 2. Avoid bad postures in sleep. 3. Take good painkiller and muscle relaxant. 4. Apply warm water pad on affected site. 5. Avoid movement s causing pain.
