Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been in the hospital for two weeks with high calcium levels at 14.4. They have been running tests with his blood and urine . They did remove a lymph node in the chest and ran a biopsy on several small ones while there. it came back as good.I am wondering now if he has hyperthyroidism ? We are going to a kidney Doctor Wednesday but do we need to be seeing a thyroid Doctor also. He has lost over 50 lbs since December 2016.
There is a gland in the body called the parathyroid, which is located near the thyroid, that plays a role in calcium levels.
An endocrinologist, a doctor that deals with disorders of all endocrine glands (this would include both the thyroid and parathyroid), may be your best option.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
General & Family Physician
