i am 58 yrs. old 6 ft 2 290 lbs. a recent blood lab had my cpk at 1000. i am on trt using test cyp at 200mgs. per week with 3mgs. of arimidex per week all the other values were ok. my primary doc did not know why cpk was so high. it was the first time it measured that high. other labs had me at between 250 to 400 cpk started trt about july 2008 thank you for any comments about my situation.
Hi.....I m Dr.Kumarbhargav.... I understood your query.... Arimidex you are taking is aromatase inhibitor....which may cause elevation of CPK....but you should exclude such rise to 1000 by clinical and other ways.... there are 3 types of iso enzymes...which guide release from and probable cause....for excluding worrisome situation....as arimidex has worse effect on your cardiovascular profile.....by altering your cholesterol...profile worsening...and might cause thromboembolic and atherosclerosis... About CPK...creatinine phosphokinase....enzyme that is present in heart (mainly CPK-MB, skeletal muscles-mainly CPK -MM and small amounts in brain - mainly CPK -BB)... To your situation....you should be watchfull....clinically....and to exclude heart disease...which should be excluded....go for cardiac troponins, myoglobins and total count and differential and ECG....if you found significant clinically....like cardiovascular disease... Thanks for contacting Health care magic....take care....
