What Causes High Eosinophil Count While Suffering From Gastrointestinal Issues?
Yes I ve been having gastrointestinal issues for about 5 years now. Had a fibroid pressing against bowels plus endometriosis and had hysterectomy and little changed. Just had a colonoscopy with a small benign polyp and Colon Dr wants 3 more stool samples because of high esinophils count. My mother has some type of autoimmune disorder (they thought lupus but she didn t benefit from standard lupus tx and now is doing marvelously with IVG infusions) I had allergy testing and gave up all except with the corn intolerance I still have corn syrup . Anyway not much info on eisinophils on line. I did go thru some terrible reflux a few years ago but that s gone now.
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
High eosinophilic count may be indicative of numbers of illness it may be benign or malignant, most common cause of it is allergic condition, auto-immune disorders, if the main concern of yours is gastroentestinal symptoms without any major elements or symptoms then it is nothing to worry, but in my opinion diet could be the cause, acid peptic disease is very common as you stated here, and it can be well managed with Tab Omeprazole once in day and it has to be taken for at least four to five weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
