What Causes High Fever Along With Green Diarrhea And Vomiting In Children?

My one year old son is having high fever 104.5, loose motions and vomiting, he is hospitalized since last four days fever has resolved but green watery loose stools are there one motions three minutes, our pediatrician says let him throw the waste after few days he will be ok.. am worried

Hi,

High grade fever, loose stools and vomiting indicates acute gastroenteritis or food poisoning. This can be treated with antibiotics, probiotics, zinc and other supportive measures.

He might be already receiving these. Fever and vomiting usually subsides in 2-3 days, but it may take few more days for stool to get normalised. If is active, playful and taking feeds, we need not worry. He will be fine in a couple of days.

Give him frequent sips of fluids like ORS to avoid dehydration and avoid juices or sugary items.
