What Causes High Fever Along With Sore Throat And Abdominal Pain In A Child?
My four year old daughter went in to the walk in clinic today with a temp of 102.5 and a sore throat and tummy ache. They did a throat culture and it came back negative for strep so they diagnosed her with a virus. They told me to push fluids and give her tylenol then ibuprophen every four hours, which I have done. Her temperature is now at 105.62, even with the meds every four hours. I am afraid something is worse...or that she is getting dehydrated. I am trying to get her to drink, but she is not drinking as much as I would like. Do I need to bring her to the E.R. or wait until morning to take her back to walk in or wait it out in general?
Temperatures of high range as 105 can lead to seizures or convulsions in child. Though primary relief can be obtained with applications of ice water or Cologne sponging over forehead, if after an hour of the same, temperatures range above 103 needs an ER visit.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
