What Causes High Fever And Green Stool In Infant?
My son 6month old baby boy passed stool in greenish colour and high fever.past 5days he is admitted in hospital .until now.they gave antibiotics inj.Taxim,metronidazole..etc.they took stool and blood for examination.the result pus and mucus presents.what is the causes.....why its happen....what food to give....

High fever in infant is caused by upper respiratory tract infections (RTIs), flu, ear infections, roseola – a virus that causes a temperature and a rash, tonsillitis, kidney or urinary tract infections (UTIs), common childhood illnesses, such as chickenpox and whooping cough, meningitis, or septicemia
A few facts about green stools are green stools are always normal, but they can be mistaken for black stools. Most dark green stools are caused by bile. Green stools are more common in formula fed than breastfed infants. It can be normal with both. Green stools are more common with diarrhea. This is due to a fast transit time through the gut. However, formed stools can also be green. Dark green stools may look black under poor lighting.
Eating spinach can cause dark green stools. Medicines like iron (such as in formula) can cause this. As your baby is already admitted in the hospital, he will get the best care and you can ask the pediatrician about what food to give.

1) Slow digestion, usually because the baby has eaten more than usual
2) Green foods in the diet of the person producing breast milk
3) A cold or stomach bug
4) A food allergy or intolerance
5) Antibiotics, either in the baby or in the person producing breast milk
6) Treatment for jaundice
7) When complimentary foods are first introduced and breast milk is weaned like at 6 months
8) Sometimes infections of gastrointestinal tract also cause green stools. Then the stool contains pus.
Hence, please don't worry about green stools. Mostly they are normal. Causes of high fever in an infant are as follows:
1) Upper respiratory tract infections
2) Acute tonsillitis
3) Urinary tract infections
4) Ear infections
5) Roseola
6) Mumps
7) Chicken pox
8) Whooping cough
9) Meningitis
10) Encephalitis
12) Septicemia
13) Gastroenteritis
The list may be exhaustive but all are completely treatable with timely medical intervention. As the baby is in hospital you don't need to worry at all. Antibiotics would treat the infection.
