Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My granddaughter has had a high fever for 5 days. Her fever is down now but she has mouth sores. They are white like an ulcer. She is two and has had one slightly wet diaper since last night. Barely eating or drinking. I think She needs to bed seen but I can t get her mother to take her. Can you advise on what s goin g around in the area?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your granddaughter have symptoms of high fever along with mouth ulcers which seems to be due to aphthous ulcers and it could be due to poor oral hygiene and infection like thrush. It could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body. Usually they resolve by themselves in few days. I would suggest you to avoid giving any spicy food and acidic drink to child. Take wet cloth and clean her oral cavity in a proper way and use antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine. If the condition do not resolve in 4-5 days then consult oral physician for proper examination and to rule out other conditions . Take antiviral medications. Drink plenty of water and fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
