What Causes High Fever And Vomiting With Excessive Sweating?
My son has had a fever for 4 days. The first day was the highest at 102.9 with vomiting. On the second day it broke as he was soaked with sweat. However, it returned the next day. It ranges from 100-102. Should I take him to the dr or wait it out? He is taking in plenty of fluids but barely eating.

HI
Thanks for posting your query.
Fever could be due to bacteria or Viral Infection. It is important to differnetiate between these two as the treatment depends on what is causing the fever.
For most of the viral infection , no specific treatment is required apart from Paracetamol and good hydration. But if it is bacterial infection , we need to find out what bacteria has infected him and treat him with antibiotics accordingly.
Most of the Viral infections will last for 3-5 days and then it shall resolve by itself. In that regard I advise you to wait for a day more and if fever still persists then better you take him to doctor as he shall require certain blood tests and Antibiotics for the cure .
Hope this information was useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask.
Regards.
