My granddaughter had a fever earlier today of 103. Her fever about 10 min ago was 101.5. She complains of her ear hurting, and has been throwing up and recently got over a cold and cough. My daughter lives in Southern California and was just in the emergency room but she is new to this hospital and the conditions were horrible with people feet from her and no place for people to sit, etc and this was after they were out of the waiting room. she waited about 2 hours but left when she said they were not changing linens etc after each patient. She was worried for her daughters safety there. I did not know how to advise her but told her I thought it was important that her daughter was seen particularly because of the fever. She does not know what to do. There is another hospital about an hour away. Any thoughts.?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think she is having a flu and vomiting happened due to excessive cough. She can take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen for fever and ear ache. She can use Mucinex for cough to help her expectorate cough.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
