Hi, I was just wondering if you could tell me any known causes for a high free beta Hcg reading at a nuchal translucency scan. I know about the increased risk of Down s syndrome combined with a low PAPP-A (which i also had) but is there other known causes? I had a failed pregnancy that miscarried naturally at 5 weeks in the cycle before my current pregnancy so it is possible that this could affect the readings? Someone told me it can also be due to severe morning sickness... Thanks for any advice you can give me

Hi Thanks for your query Based on your query my opinion is 1. b HCG starts raising with pregnancy and is usually raised excessively in multiple pregnancy/;tumors. 2. In your case it might not be significant. 3. If other parameters are normal, then this is not if concern Hope this helps Regards
