My last GGT level was 111; taken a year ago. I don't drink but I smoke less than half a pack a day. My doctor did not seem overly concerned. I have to retest in two weeks and am fearful that I may get another high level. I take pain killers for a bad back (I do not abuse them and follow the directions to the letter). I am a 42 year old male. All other liver function tests were normal.
Welcome to healthcare magic! How is your other liver function tests like SGOT/ SGPT/ Bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. Do you have any clinical symptoms like fatigue, loss of appetite, jaundice, nausea vomiting? If you don't have anything and if you don't drink alcohol, then don't worry. Repeat your test after 2 months. Sometimes smoking may be the cause of elevated GGTP. Avoid painkillers as far as possible and focus on exercise for backache.
