What Causes High Glucose Levels In Blood Test In Pregnancy?
Hi
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I had my usual tests at the hospital and a blood test came back with high glucose and I have to go for a 'screening test for gestational diabetes' next week. I normally drink fizzy drinks such as lucozade and coke - could this be the cause of the high reading? I drank a club orange drink and a coffee with one and a half sugars before I had the blood test last week - would this affect the reading?
hi,high blood glucose readings are usually seen when there is insulin resistance ie glucose is not properly metabolised rather than with high sugar diet.i would recommend you to undergo a oral glucose tolerance test after taking 100 gm glucose which is a diagnostic test for gestational diabetes.all the best take care.
