What Causes High Platelet Count?
I just picked up my bloodwork and it states I have a high platelet count of 465 (normal range 144-400) and the other high was my EOS at 9.1 (norm is 0.0-8.0). What does this mean? My actual follow up with doctor is not until next week. Should I be concerned. Thank you.

HI .THANKS FOR YOUR QUERY.YOU DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT HIGH PLATELET COUNT.BUT YOUR EOS IS HIGH.THIS MIGHT MOST PROBABLY SUGGEST A PARASITIC INFECTION..THE HIGH PLATELET COUNT MAY BE SPURIOUS VALUE DUE TO A SAMPLING ERROR.I SUGGEST YOU GET YOUR TEST REPEATED 2 WEEKS LATER .MEANWHILE YOU CAN USE TAB ALBENDAZOLE 400mgm FOR TWO DAYS TO CLEAR THE EXISTING INFECTION IF ANY.ON YOUR NEXT BLOOD WORKUP GET COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT AND REVIEW WITH RESULTS.THANK YOU
