Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had high prolactin levels for years and just recently had a lymph node removed in my neck. Pathology reports had a lot of inflammation. Had subclass Igg2 and 4 labs. Normal labs but had a pet scan and no other lymph nodes but spleen is 1.5 cm. Still no one can find out what going on. I m seeing a endocrinologist and hematology and internal medicine doctor.
The principal cause of hiperprolactinemy is the pregnant and the second one is a prolactinoma (a tumor in the pituitary gland) thah in some cases are indetectable for the very small size. Other cause less frequent is an ectopic (housed in other place) tumor producer of that hormone. Keep in mind that sometimes the tests have false-positive result due to the presence of macroprolactin (polymer of prolactin biologically inactive)
