Hello, I tried to donate blood today but was turned away due to my pulse resting was 123 and told that was too high. My pulse has never been this high. My Doctor just prescribed simvastatin 10 mg that I ve been on for 4 days now and am wondering if this could be why.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. The raised pulse rate before bloos donation can be due tension/fear... or it can be there before the dination.. if you have high blood pressure or heart problem. Take rest for some time to majer the pulse rate again... if it turns normal.. it was due to tension.Continued raised pulse demands a full cardiac check up. Thanks
