What Causes Hip Pain After Changing Dosage Of Gabapentin?

I have been taking 1200mg of gabapentin for several years because of periphal nueropathy. This month my perscription was changed to 600mg 3 times aa day. Over the month I have also developed crippling pain in my hip due to arthritis. Could the lower dosage be causing this pain? Before the change, I would notice the hip pain only occasionally and it was only mildly annoying.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

No, I do not think this low dose is the cause of your actual pain. Indeed, arthritis is the main culprit. Should treat arthritis at the same time. Plus need to nourish your muscles and nerves through vitamin B, D, magnesium supplementation.

Discuss this with your rheumatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
