What Causes Hives Like Rashes On Legs After Knee Surgery Of A 11 Year Old?
My 11 year old daughter had surgery on her knees 4 days ago. Yesterday morning we noticed a rash that looked like hives or an allergic reaction. It s been 2-3 days with the rash it has gone on to both legs (both legs had surgery), but now the rash no longer looks like a reaction or hives. They are really red look really really sore, some have white stuff in them and white head others have liquid in them. They have spread clear down to her ankles and about half way up her thigh. It s red around the incision and she said it itches really bad. I have photos.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your 11 year old have hives like rashes on legs after knee surgery which occurs when body give response to some external stimuli or some kind of allergen. Introduction of allergen to skin cause release of some chemical which make the skin to as well. They are usually harmless until they cause problem like breathing problems, swallowing problems. The symptoms in your acse are probably due to post surgery complication so consult your surgeon and discuss about it . I would suggest you to give cold compresses to reduce itchiness . give cold compresses several times a day , to find out the trigger factor which is a complicated thing , But the prevention of hives is the best thing one can do . So try to avoid the trigger factor , consult dermatologist/pediatrician for proper diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe steroid therapy. Until then continue taking antihistamine drug 'benadryl'
Hope your concern has been resolved.
