What Causes Hives On Face With Itchy Scalp And Ears After Taking Naproxen?
I was prescribed Naproxen today for a shoulder injury. I took my first dose 3 hours ago and now my head and ears are itching and I have some hives on my face. At the same time that I took the Naproxen, I took at 12 hour Zyrtec D. Can I just take some Benadryl for the itching and hives?
Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory agent used in pain management. Your symptoms are suggestive of allergy to naproxen. You need a course of antihistamines. Steroid can be used incase of increased itching and rashes in spite of taking antihistamines.
Since you have already taken sedative antihistamines such as cetirizine, avoid Benadryl Syrup. Non sedative antihistamines such as fexofenadine can be taken one tablet at night after food. kindly visit the physician in case of difficulty in swallowing throat pain or extensive rashes all over the body in order to rule out anaphylaxis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
