What Causes Hoarse Voice In A Child With Sinus Infection?

My son is a month old and I was told to do saline drops in his nose to clear up a small sinus infection. I started them yesterday and now he seems as though he is hoarse when he cries. He doesn t seem to have a fever but he is more tired and only drinking about 2 oz which is usually 4. Should I go to the doctor or is it nothing to worry about.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query hoarse voice in a child with sinus infection means suffering from condition known as pharyngitis. I would suggest you to -

- Use mist humidifiers in room.

- Give child steam inhalation.

- Put nasal decongestant sprays like Xylometazoline for opening of sinuses.

Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Go for paranasal sinus X ray and start proper course of antibiotics after thorough examination.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
