Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had pneumonia about a year ago and had a laryngvideo sstroboscope and at the same time I have had hoarseness in my voice and the drs said I had acid reflux but I didn t think I did but my doc said to take the medicine would be the only way they could know that I didn t. Now I have had a hoarse voice all the time and have had it for over 2 years. I was told by a clevveland clinic doctor after he did another scope that there wasn t anything in my throat etc. to cause me to not be able to talk or sing and that I should go to the voice therapist that I had alreadyd been to for months and had done the vocal exercises that they wanted and I just continued to not get better but worse. When the dr told me to go back to the therapist that I had already that had said I had acid reflux even though I told I had never had a problem, he did say that he believed I did not have acid rreflux but to go back this therapist and she would know what I should do to get my vocal cords to work again. I now have been trying to use my voice and sing and talk etc. and every day it is not normal and I know going back to this dr in Cleveland will just tell me to do the same thing. I have looked at and listened to a lot of info on Mayo clinics website and I believe they could help me but I am not sure I should go there and be led off into the weeds like the previous people. I can make a singing voice easier then my talking voice because it doesn t sound quite so hoarse but I will never be able to sing in the choir or do solo music unless someone has better ideas then the people I have gone to so far. I woiuld appreciate any ideas you could give me. I have an appointment with an ENT office and they will do another scope but that wont help me. Thankk you for any ideas you can give me. Also I have not had a cold or the flu or amy soreness in my throat at all. I just cough up lots of mucus etc. daily and get more hoarse. I do have a thyroid problem but am seeing and endo and they don t believe my throid is envolved and I don t either . Thank you
