What Causes Hoarseness And Chronic Cough?

I have been hoarse for three weeks. I do not have a sore throat, or fever, or cough. My voice has been hoarse, almost gone, ever since I had a coughing spell at a dinner. Once I could talk again about ten minutes later (I left the table), my voice was weird. It has not returned. I saw my family doc for an annual check up two weeks ago. He said to return if it continues. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is inflammation of larynx which was triggered by coughing spell at dinner, just give rest to vocal cords and get examined by ENT doctor as soon as possible as he will examine vocal cords for any damage. If simple inflammation, then it will subside in a few days take antibiotics as azithromycin once a day and tablet aceclofenac plus serratiopeptidase two times.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
