What Causes Hot Flashes After Slight Exertion In An Elderly Person?

I am 70 years old and have sudden hot flashes with the least amount of exertion. I get so weak I cannot stand up. Most of the time a headache will come shortly after it starts. This has been going on for a long time and everytime I mention it to my doctor, I am ignored. It can last as long as 30 minutes. I would appreciate any information you can give me or if there is a specialist I should see. I have been to an ENT but did not receive any help.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You may want to consider visiting another doctor for a different assessment since the symptoms are so disturbing and affecting your quality of life.

It is possible that they may be related to abnormal heart rate or rhythm (arrhythmia). It may also reflect other altered function of the heart. Reduced/altered heart function would affect blood supply to the brain causing weakness and the flashes

It can also be due to hormonal causes as well eg thyroid disease

Blood tests and an ECG should at least be done.

I hope this helps
