What Causes Hot Flashes On The Face And Legs With High Bp?

I am 88 yrs old and have high blood pressure. my primary-care dr put me on metoprol 100 2x/day, lifinopril 10mg/1x per day. my bp was still high, he doubled my lifinopril to 20mg/1x per day. Then it was still too high. He added Cardura and I was dizzy, headache, etc. After 1 week, he took me off Cardura. Now I am taking my own BP for 2 more weeks and it is still too high. In the last 4 days or more sometimes my face, arms, legs, feet and hands get very red (not a rash). Usually just my face. Can high BP cause this??? My temperature is normal.

From your history it is evident that you have resistent hypertension, adding your history of flushing there is possibility of pheochtomicytoma.I would suggest you to get your 24 hrs urinary VMA and ultrasound of kidneys and suprarenals done.if it favours pheo then go for CT scan for adrenals and go for definitive treatment.meanwhile using Labetolol in place of bets blocketd at help controlling bop and symptoms.
