What Causes Hot Flashes?

I am a 62 year old black female, who had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago because of fibroids and I just started having hot flashes, what can cause this? I do not have any illness no high blood pressure, no high cholorostol, no cancers, no dibeities, etc. I needed my email address is YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your query and understand the concern.

Hot flashes or hot flushes are mainly due to low level of FSH and estrogens in woman and mainly seen after menopause in women.

There could be chances of this hormonal imbalance in your blood after a certain age.You can also check your thyroid profile to rule out any thyroid abnormality.

The hormone replacement therapy is the only choice with some medication like SSRIs can help.

You should see endocrinologist for further advise.
