What Causes Hot Flushes And Night Sweats After Withdrawing From Logynon ED?
Hi, I was using Logynon Ed until about 3 months ago. I stopped taking it to give my body a break. Since then I have gone into pre-menopause and I have terrible hot flushes and night sweats. I have been taking some herbal products to ease the symptoms, but nothing is really helping. I want to know if I go back on the pill will this dangerous. I am 49 years old. Regards, Gaby
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and understand your concern.
Logynon contains 2 hormones similar to the ones that the body of a menstruating woman produces: estrogen and progesterone. Because you are having the flushes and night sweats it might be advisable for you to have FSH and estradiol tests to confirm if you are going into menopause.
If you are going into menopause than the flushes can be explained with the normal changes that menopause causes and you need to talk with your doctor on benefits and risks of using hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT may help with symptoms of menopause but increases risk for deep vein thrombosis, cardiovascular risk and hypertension, etc. So your doctor has to weigh the benefits and risks in your case.
I would also advise you to check your thyroid by having a TSH test to rule out thyroid problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
