What Causes Hot Flushes And Perspiration While On Synthyroid?

Femaile, 59, on synthroid with regular checkups, surgical menopause at 50. And I just COOK! Can wear tank tops year round and a sweater in winter in NY state. Summers require air AND A FAN. What can be making me so warm? I feel like I have perspiration, clamminess on my face. No fever, husband say I do no feel warm.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Check your TSH level as you are under treatment so if low then talk with your treating Doctor to adjust medications.

2)If [TSH] is normal then talk with your Gynecologist to add low dose estrogen therapy and this will solve your problem.

3)Try to avoid hot beverages, caffeine, spicy foods, alcohol, stress, hot weather and even a warm room.

4)Make a plan to sleep during day and night

5)Do meditation and deep breathing exercise

6)Try to eat a balance diet and add a calcium suppliment regularly

7)Do regular Kegel exercises which will strengthen pelvic muscles

8)Try to avoid alcohol and smoking

Hope that helps
