What Causes Hot Flushes In Face While On Clonazepam For Anxiety?

I ve just started taking Clonazepam for anxiety (have Shingles) and find it works beautifully to calm me down. However, I noticed my face is quite hot. Is this unusual - should I be concerned. I m also taking an Antiviral medication (Valtrex). Look forward to hearing from you. Katherine

Hi Katherine,
Clonazepam works great in case of anxiety. dosage usually depends on the degree of anxiety, i hope you are taking low dose which starts from 0.25mg. feeling of hot face, otherwise called hot flushes, is a common side effect of this medicine. you need not worry about it if it is mild. but if you get severe hot flushes consult your treating doctor. Continue taking Valtrex as there is no interaction between the two medications.
