What Causes Hot Sensation On The Head, Dizziness And Nausea?

My sister s head is hot and her feet and hands are cold but no fever. She is dizzy and sometimes nauseous. She has been taking her blood pressure 3 times a day for 2 days. It is running from 150/90 to 194/100. Is the high blood pressure the cause of all her symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, dizziness and fullness of head can be experienced by such high blood pressure. First thing you have to do is emergency consultation to the ER for IV therapy to lower down blood pressure at least up to 140/85 to reduce chances of hemorrhage particularly in brain.

Further control medication will depend upon the age and other concurrent condition if any. Usually elder patients are put on Hydrochlorthiazide (diuretics) and Losartan (ACEs\ARBs). So this decision will be on above criteria. Your physician will give you better idea after examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
