Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to the health clinic yesterday and had 3 unexpectedly high bp readings..168/89, 133/89 and 168/84 over a period of 2 hours. I have 2 siblings and a mother with hypertension. I am almost 60 and have never had any issues with this. alongside of this I have been waking in the night with anxiety, short of breath and increased pulse. next Friday I return for bp check and lab work. for now I am drinking hibiscus tea x2 a day and will stop caffeine as of tomorrow. they will also be checking for thyroid as my son was recently diagnosed with Graves disease.
Dear user Welcome to HCM We understand your concerns I went through your details. Please do not panic. Panic creates stress and anxiety and stress and anxiety worsens the bp reading. Please understand, stress and anxiety do worsen the bp reading temporarily. It do not have any permanent effect on your BP reading. Once your health check up is completed and once the doctor tell you that there is nothing to worry, your BP reading will come down.
