What Causes Hypertension With History Of Having Retinal Detachment Surgery?

I am a 62 year old male physician in the US who has been in good health except for hypertension. I had retinal detachment surgery about 7 years ago which was successful and my most recent retinal exam shows no issues. In the last few months I have had these new occurrences: some fine motor weakness (like opening a Ziplock bag), pinwheel visual effect every month or two (had a lot of this right after my detachment surgery) when I get up in the morning and take my warm shower, and in recent weeks I find myself dropping small objects. Any thoughts: I wonder if I am starting to express some neuro-degenerative disease. Thanks

Hello,

Your symptoms could be due to conditions like Parkinson's disease (most probably), Alzheimer disease, cardioembolic stroke, chorea in adults, cortico-basal syndrome and cortico-basal degeneration, Lewy body dementia, Dopamine-Responsive Dystonia, essential tremor, Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration (PKAN), Huntington disease, Lacunar syndrome, multiple system atrophy, neuroacanthocytosis, neurological Manifestations of vascular dementia, and normal pressure hydrocephalus.

Kindly contact a neuro-physician for detailed clinical examination and tests like MRI brain and electro-conduction studies if necessary.
