Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Dr. told me I have a hard heart, What does that mean and what should I do about it? He put me on a medication called 200 Pms- Carvedilol 25 mg.I had a bad reaction to it. I was on metoporlol 100 mg 2 times a day so I went back to that med. Is there a med I should be on?
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic disease when heart walls are a ticker that normal. The complications are rare but may be manifested as life-threatening arrhythmias, that's why your doctor has prescribed you a medication.
Both Metoprolol and Carvedilol are good in protecting from arrhythmias, so if you have had a reaction to Carvedilol, you can switch back to Metoprolol. However, I would recommend telling your doctor about the reaction and that you have switched back to Metoprolol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lilit Baghdasaryan,
Cardiologist
