HI Kindly presenting to you a75 year old male known case of CABG MI and gall stone develope with acute renal failure on medication with carvedilol and labetalol.the pt has hypertrophic tongue papilla in mid and terminal part.what can be the cause?Has this hypertrophy a special name?
Here tongue papillae (increase in the volume of tongue papillae due to the enlargement of its component cells) has been reported by people with osteoporosis, high blood pressure, infection, gastric ulcer, bacterial infection.
Lingual papillae are the small nipple or hair–like structures on the upper surface of the tongue that give the tongue its characteristic rough texture.
There are four types of lingual papillae on the human tongue: circumvallate papillae (vallate papillae), fungiform papillae, filiform papillae and foliate papillae. All except the filiform papillae are associated with taste buds.
Hope it will helpful to you,
Thanks & Regards, Gaurav Prajapati
