What Causes Imbalance In Body With Numbness, Tingling And Loss Of Central Vision?

I have been having issues with Stability on my feet, on and off numbness, tingling, hot dagger pains, muscle cramping and loss of muscle control. The doctor said I m not diabetic and my A1C is excellent. I also lost a good bit of my Central vision in my left eye and the neuro-opthalmologist said he thinks it s optic neuritis. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The numbness, tingling, hot pains , cramping, decreased control may be linked to the peripheral nerves (nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord).
This is called peripheral neuropathy and there are different possible causes.

Causes include: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)diabetes- you indicated this is not an issue for you
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)trauma
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)MS, stroke, other neurological conditions
(7)side effect of medication
(8)idiopathic- cause not known
(9)some hormonal or autoimmune conditions such as lupus
(10)infection

Blood tests to check the vitamin levels, assess the liver/kidneys, rule out infections or autoimmune conditions are needed.
Imaging may also be required.

I hope this helps
