What Causes Increase Of Sugar Level During Pregnancy?
Hi... I'm currently 37 week 3 days pregnant and I passed my 28 week glucose screening. I was rushed to L&D this past Saturday due to my sugar being 335. I've been put on a strict diet in which I have been following. Checking my sugar through out the day. I checked it its 187...All I had since the last check was a few grapes and 3 strawberries. What is causing this? :(
Hello. This is gestational diabetes mellitus which is seen only during pregnancy. It may develop any time during pregnancy depending on the susceptible patient profile. Generally seen in women who have either a family history of diabetes or had diabetes in previous prgnancy or had PCOS before conception or have been obese. if you were normal at 28 weeks then suddenly have had high sugar values on profile then you require stricter diet control and exercise.avoid any form of sugar and break your meals for the day into six parts.ideally you should be placed on insulin with these values.. Delivery should be induced at 39 weeks as chances of unexplained fetal deaths are common beyond 39 weeks. Please consult gynecologist for placing you on insulin. regards dr.sameer kumar
