What Causes Increasing Pain In Abdomen While Standing And Sitting?

Ive been having pain in the lower abdominal. It began in the center and move to the right. I thought It might be apendicitis, but no other symptoms developed besides increased pain when standing/ sitting and coughing. The pain ran in episodes lessing and then suddenly becoming very painful as if being stabbed. By the next day the pain hauled for the majority of the day only being brought on by coughing or active movement. I figured i was fine, but im still slightly worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are several possible causes of abdominal pain, including appendicitis, gastrointestinal issues, urinary tract infections, and reproductive issues. The fact that the pain is increasing while standing and sitting could indicate that it is related to the digestive system or pelvic organs.

It is important to see a healthcare provider for a proper evaluation and diagnosis. They may perform a physical exam, blood tests, or imaging tests to determine the cause of the pain. Depending on the underlying cause, treatment options may include medication, lifestyle changes, or surgery.

In the meantime, you can manage the pain by taking over-the-counter pain relievers and avoiding activities that worsen the pain. It is important to rest and stay hydrated and to avoid foods that may exacerbate the pain or cause digestive discomfort. If the pain becomes severe or you experience other concerning symptoms, such as fever or vomiting, seek medical attention immediately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
