What Causes Indigestion And Belching?

I have been experiencing moderate indigestion, located at sternum. On occasion my belches have a odor of burnt plastic. Does this make any sense at all. Ingegestion not responding to Tums or Rolaids as it typically does within minutes after taking.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Indigestion and belching are due to hyperacidity issues of the stomach or biliary I problems.

Upper endoscopy is recommended together with abdominal ultrasound. Stool examination for ova parasites and intolerance are also recommended.

Until you get the tests done, I advise you to:
- take pancreatic enzymes to help with digestion
- take simethicone and probiotics
- have light and frequent meals
- eat slowly

Hope this helps.
