What Causes Inflammation And Irritation On The Feet?

I recently had some athletes foot symptoms that were not responding to over the counter anti-fungal creams. my doctor prescribed prescription Ketoconazole 2% which seemed to be helping but I developed some redness and irritation. The insert states that there can be redness and irritation but there is also a small light purple area around one toe that has developed. Not sure if this is also a side effect. I have discontinued the Ketaconazole for a day to see if the irritation and redness goes away. I swim almost every day and have also skipped going for a day. Any thoughts on this. l

Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to ketoconazole intolerance.

For this reason, I would recommend switching to another anti-fungal ointment. Starting oral therapy may be needed too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
